The Hound of the Baskervilles
by R. Hamilton Wright and David Pichette
Adapted from the novel by Arthur Conan Doyle

March 13th-16th, 2025

HOLMES: I tell you, Watson, this is a dark business. Sir Henry no sooner sets foot in London than he feels he's being stalked, he narrowly escapes being run down in the street--no, that was no accident!--and worst of all, this nasty business of his boots in the hotel--
WATSON: His boots! You must be joking!
HOLMES: I'm in deadly earnest. Stop dawdling, Watson! Here's your coat. Grab your service revolver; it may be of use. Unless I'm very much mistaken, looking out the window ten minutes ago I saw the Big Cat himself.
“London. Autumn. 1889. The famous consulting detective Sherlock Holmes and her friend and colleague Dr. Jane Watson are called in to investigate a most intriguing mystery: What could have frightened Sir Charles Baskerville to death? Is there an ancient curse on the Baskerville family? Is Sir Henry Baskerville, Sir Charles’ young heir, being stalked by a supernatural Hound from Hell or a diabolically clever murderer?

In this new adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s greatest adventure, Holmes and Watson pursue the answers to these questions from their rooms in Baker Street through the teeming streets of London and on to the windswept moors of Devonshire. With a dash of humor, this thrilling feast culminates on the fog-bound reaches of Dartmoor, where finally the secret of the Hound of the Baskervilles can be revealed!” (Conchord Theatricals).

Sherlock Holmes takes the stage for mystery with modern twist

by Okanagan College Community Relations
Kelowna theatre-goers, hold onto your detective hats — something fiendish is afoot.
This March the Red Dot players are set to transport attendees to London, 1889 in a thrilling new adaptation of The Hound of the Baskervilles, bringing the legendary detective mystery to life with a fresh twist of humour and a modern sensibility.
Join Sherlock Holmes and her colleague Dr. Jane Watson as the dynamic duo investigates a most intriguing mystery.
For OC Instructor DeAnna MacArthur portraying Sherlock’s trusty companion Dr. Watson as a woman is a new and exciting challenge.
"Having the opportunity to take on an iconic character, who is not normally played by a female, has been challenging and very fun,” said MacArthur.
“My favourite part has been imagining and creating the relationship between Watson and Sherlock, alongside Amy, who is playing Sherlock Holmes.”
The opportunity to bring a favourite literary character, Sherlock Holmes to life has been a long-time dream for director and OC English Professor Jeremy Beaulne.
“Ever since I read the Illustrated Classic Edition of The Hound of the Baskervilles, Sherlock Holmes has been my favourite literary character,” said Beaulne.
“This production promises all the eerie suspense of the original tale, seasoned with wit and theatrical flair. It follows the intrepid Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Jane Watson as they sniff out the truth behind a devilish mystery on the moors,” said Beaulne.
“Is there a ghostly hound haunting the Baskerville family, or is something more sinister at play? Audiences will have to join the chase to find out,” says Beaulne.
The production will run at the Okanagan College Theatre, located at 1000 KLO Road, Kelowna, at the following times:
Thursday, March 13, 7 p.m.
Friday, March 14, 7 p.m.
Saturday, March 15, 7 p.m.
Sunday, March 16, 2 p.m.
Tickets are available through Ticket Owl and will also be sold at the door.
Join Sherlock and Watson as they chase the mystery from the gaslit streets of London to the mist-shrouded moors of Devonshire, unraveling a case that has left even Scotland Yard scratching their heads.
